#40: Spirited Away - Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (2001)
Starring: Rumi Hiragi (voice)
Directed by: Hayao Miyazaki
Plot: In the middle of her family’s move to the suburbs, a sullen 10-year-old girl wanders into a world ruled by gods, witches, and monsters; where humans are changed into animals; and a bathhouse for these creatures.
But is it any good?
I watched Spirited Away yesterday, and I’m still pondering whether I liked it or not. Yes, the animation is beautiful, and yes, there are some good life lessons in there for any kiddies brave enough to watch it. But I also found it a bit slow, and made the mistake of trying to eat my dinner while watching the Stink Spirit scenes.
Frankly, it was a bit creepy. In a bad way. I’m glad I watched it, but it’s not one of my favourites so far.
