#10: One flew over the cuckoo’s nest (1975)
Starring: Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, Louise Fletcher
Directed by: Milos Forman
Plot: Upon arrival at a mental institution, a brash rebel rallies the patients together to take on the oppressive Nurse Ratched, a woman more a dictator than a nurse.
But is it any good?
It’s difficult to write anything about Cuckoo’s Nest without spoiling the plot, so I’ll keep it brief: at times funny, at times tragic. Produced by a young Michael Douglas. Top-class acting and screenplay. Not a film I’d watch again, but I remember being very affected at the time. The ending’s pretty traumatic. Date movie it is not.
IMDb’s rating: 8.7/10
My rating: 8.5/10
